Taiwan fun - Gloria Residences

This is Benja enjoying his soft boiled egg in our apartment hotel, Gloria Residences. It was a fantastically comfortable home away from home and we enjoyed our stay immensely.

The white hen eggs that i got from the chilled shelf of the supermarket was top quality. The yolk was orangey and turned into a thick creamy solid ball after being submerged in hot water for 15 minutes.

The check in experience was efficient and pleasant. The staff accomodated our request to check out at 1pm on our last day. He also gave me a packet of detergent that could last me 3 washes when I checked if the hotel provided detergent.

When we were briefed on our room, the staff told us to help ourselves to the snacks and bar drinks. It was the first time we stayed in a hotel that offered free daily bar topups.

Yeye and Mama took the room next to ours, but only our room had lingering cigarette smell. The staff came to check and offered two options, 1) to perform smoke removal for 30 minutes and we go out for a walk while this is ongoing, 2) pack up and switch to another room. We took option 2 as we were too tired to go out for a walk.

The next morning, we went for the hotel buffet which featured both western and chinese options. The highlight of the restaurant was the warm personalised service and attention to detail rendered by Mr Parry Lin. He helped to settle Benja and coaxed him to eat his porridge.

Seeing that I was too busy managing Benja's breakfast, Benja made a glass of cold pressed vegefruit juice for me. He also reminded Yeye and Mama to finish their juices before they oxidised.

Benja acclimatised himself quickly to this new uncle who was full of smiles and treated us like his own family member.

After our breakfast, Parry even offered to help us take a family portrait at the cozy yet classy corner with the piano.

On the second morning, we were disappointed to hear that Parry was going for a break the next day and it would be the last time we're meeting him. However, the staff managing breakfast on the third morning were just as attentive and immaculate as Parry.

One of the afternoons, Benja and I were disturbed by a mysterious beeping sound at 3 minute intervals. The staff who answered our call came up to identify the source, but couldn't find it. She went off to seek help. Five minutes later, another young lady arrived and solved the mystery - it was the safety feature of the electronic stove that beeped whenever objects are placed on the operation touch panel! Peace at last! :)

The amazing thing about this place is the ability to resolve problems and offer quick, viable solutions by every staff whom we came into contact with. Needless to say, we were greeted with smiles and friendly conversations from the staff too. Keep it up, Gloria R, we will be back next time!
