Swirl

Benja can swirl the stereo volume knob in the bowl. When he controls well, the knob swirls inside. When he gets a bit impatient and swirls harder, the knob drops out.

This also happens when he drinks water from a cup. The first few sips are fine, then he gets impatient and tilts hard, spilling all the water onto his body :)

He calls them 'bag'

Yes, anything with a handle strap is a bag. And Benja carries them with arms raised like this (mummy thinks it's cute ^^).

I guess he doesn't have the motor skills to latch the straps onto his shoulders yet.

During his Saturday class, Benja hooked onto his elbow a small 2D pot of paint with handle that was given during imaginative play.

He loves bags whether they are empty or full, and insists on carrying them even though mummy thinks they are too heavy for him.

Bag list:
Plastic pail with handle
Tiny hook that hooks socks on shopping rack
Giant cloth bags with loooong handles

His little corner

Benja has his own little space between the drawers and the wall. He landed himself there while leaning against the drawers.

Papa played hide-and-seek with him by hiding behind the drawers at the other end. Benja loved it when Papa called his name. He would bend forward to take a peek with a cheeky smile.

Raspberries

Benja has raspberries at his fingertips! It was Papa's idea.

So cute! (^_^)

He doesn't really like the taste of raspberries.

Eye

Date: 1 Dec 2013, 15 months 2 weeks

Grandma was trying to teach Benja the names of the part of the doll's body in Chinese.

'Eye (in English)!' said Benja touching the doll's eye.

It made Grandma very happy. ^^

He calls them balls

Date: 8 Dec 2013, Sunday

Mummy is happy that Benja recognises a sphere.

From the 0.8cm green bead attached to the tassle of a lantern to the yellow street lamp at the zebra crossing. Benja calls them BALL.

Benja is especially possessive of the latest addition to his ball collection - rockmelons. He loves them because they are heavy. At home, he throws them exactly as he would with his basketball. Only thing is they have less 'bounce' than the basketball.

Other ball-worthy things:
- floating balloon advertisements (condo entrance, Expo IT fair)
- abacus beads
- street lamp
- pearls on mummy's necklace

Playing with the water bottle

Benja doesn't take much from the straw bottle. He takes 5-10ml per session and finishes 50ml on a good day.

He noticed the new pink handles that we just put in for him today and expressed interest to take it out. Mummy opened the bottle cover to let him explore the parts freely.

He dismantled the cover, pink handles and tries to put them back. He placed the lid then realised the handle cannot go in. He got upset when Mummy opened the cover to fix the pink handles before putting on the lid. Mummy was hoping that Benja realises there is a sequence to put them back.

He got very interested to suck on the straw with the loose lid. Mummy doesn't get it. How different is a bottle with its cover tight or loose? Why is Benja eager to drink from one with a loose cover?

Benja took out the straw and tried drinking from both ends. He realises that water can remain in the wet end for him to suck out and loved it.

Leaving food in the right place

Benja was having a piece of pluot this afternoon. He only took a bite as he didn't really like it. But he held on to it until he saw a book and figured out that he needed to put the piece of fruit down in order to hold the book. He looked around for some place suitable and left it on the box lid (we do use the lid to place pieces of food for him to self-feed). Then he saw his dismantled transparent ball and changed his mind. He switched the pluot over.

Benja looked up at mummy and laughed. He knew that it was not a place to leave food. He moved the fruit back to the box lid and went on to read the book.

It's amazing that a 15 month old can go through a thought process like this.

Mummy is so proud of you, Benja!

First slide

Woosh...
Going down the slide for the first time. Crawling up from the base was just as fun!

A start

Photo taken on: 17 Sep 2013, 13 months old

Mummy needs a place to keep the little achievements of the child she loves. Two to three sentences accompanied by a photo should do the trick for this busy mummy.

Go! Go! Go! ^^
